Just a Random Thought

Today when I was looking my last blog over I read something interesting that made one big question pop into my head...
If you look at the end of verse twelve in the story of Job, when God and Satan were finished speaking to one another the verse says: So Satan left the Lord’s presence.
So then you can imagine what popped into my head.
Well all throughout my church years I've learned that God is so holy that he can't even be in the presence of sin, but then we look and the Bible says that Satan is sin.
So how could God have a conversation with Satan if he can't even be in the presence of sin?
Something to defiantely think about.

Never Stop Praising

I came across this story when I was reading my Bible and I knew the name but I never knew what the story was really about.
This one is about Job.
You may look at it and say whoa, I don't have enough time to read all that but I encourage you to read every bit of it

1 There once was a man named Job who lived in the land of Uz. He was blameless—a man of complete integrity. He feared God and stayed away from evil. 2 He had seven sons and three daughters. 3 He owned 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500 teams of oxen, and 500 female donkeys. He also had many servants. He was, in fact, the richest person in that entire area.
4 Job’s sons would take turns preparing feasts in their homes, and they would also invite their three sisters to celebrate with them. 5 When these celebrations ended—sometimes after several days—Job would purify his children. He would get up early in the morning and offer a burnt offering for each of them. For Job said to himself, “Perhaps my children have sinned and have cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job’s regular practice.
Job’s First Test 6 One day the members of the heavenly court came to present themselves before the Lord, and the Accuser, Satan, came with them. 7 “Where have you come from?” the Lord asked Satan.
Satan answered the Lord, “I have been patrolling the earth, watching everything that’s going on.”
8 Then the Lord asked Satan, “Have you noticed my servant Job? He is the finest man in all the earth. He is blameless—a man of complete integrity. He fears God and stays away from evil.”
9 Satan replied to the Lord, “Yes, but Job has good reason to fear God. 10 You have always put a wall of protection around him and his home and his property. You have made him prosper in everything he does. Look how rich he is! 11 But reach out and take away everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face!”
12 “All right, you may test him,” the Lord said to Satan. “Do whatever you want with everything he possesses, but don’t harm him physically.” So Satan left the Lord’s presence.
13 One day when Job’s sons and daughters were feasting at the oldest brother’s house, 14 a messenger arrived at Job’s home with this news: “Your oxen were plowing, with the donkeys feeding beside them, 15 when the Sabeans raided us. They stole all the animals and killed all the farmhands. I am the only one who escaped to tell you.”
16 While he was still speaking, another messenger arrived with this news: “The fire of God has fallen from heaven and burned up your sheep and all the shepherds. I am the only one who escaped to tell you.”
17 While he was still speaking, a third messenger arrived with this news: “Three bands of Chaldean raiders have stolen your camels and killed your servants. I am the only one who escaped to tell you.”
18 While he was still speaking, another messenger arrived with this news: “Your sons and daughters were feasting in their oldest brother’s home. 19 Suddenly, a powerful wind swept in from the wilderness and hit the house on all sides. The house collapsed, and all your children are dead. I am the only one who escaped to tell you.”
20 Job stood up and tore his robe in grief. Then he shaved his head and fell to the ground to worship. 21 He said,
“I came naked from my mother’s womb, and I will be naked when I leave. The Lord gave me what I had, and the Lord has taken it away. Praise the name of the Lord!”
22 In all of this, Job did not sin by blaming God.

The meaning from the story I got is pretty self explanatory.
Even when satan was doing all these things to him he never stopped praising God.
When things get tough I always remember to look and see what Job did and went through because he had to deal with way harder things than most of us have.

Are You a Revolution?

If I'm here all alone If I'm left behind If they spit in my face If they hate my kind I will rise above I will live for love I will answer to the call For the bond between For the depth unseen For my God forsake it all 'Cause I'm a fire I'm a flood I'm a revolution I am a war Already won I'm a revolution When the world is at war When the grace is gone When the hungry lay dead While the rich live on I will rise above I will live for love I will answer to the call For the bond between For a depth unseen For my God forsake it all Here I stand Open hands Waiting for You I won't back down I'll live to speak Your truth.

That one has got to be my favorite worship song of all time. The words are simple yet it means more to me than any other song I've heard.
It's the best definition of God's Will that I've seen yet, and with God's command for us to carry on his Will written all over the Bible I'm thinking we should probably do it.
So my question is this....
....Are you a Revolution?

Question 3:

If God knows the outcome of each and every person's life then why would He create someone knowing they will go to hell?
Thoughts?

Monday, August 11, 2008

Question 2:

Did God die on the Cross?
What do you think?

Saturday, August 9, 2008

Question:

One of my youth leaders asked me and a group of friends a question Friday night, I thought it was really thought provoking so I'll share it:

Did God create Sin?

What do you think?

Waiting

Listening to my Ipod yesterday I came across a song that just cleared some stuff up that I had running through my head.
In the past I had heard someone say that God doesn't show himself to you in one big pour, it would be way to overwhelming for us to handle, but instead he shows himself to us in little drips that way it's not so overwhelming.
But since it has to be like that it take a long time, and we feel like we're getting nowhere in our relationship with God, and since the drips are so small we have to keep a look out for them.
Have you ever been outside when it's raining and just stuck your tongue out to catch the rain drops? Well it's the same exact thing, when you stick your tongue out it feels like your not getting any water at all, so you start moving around and trying to catch more of them, but the thing is is if you just wait in the same spot for a little while you'll start catching them.
So long story short, we have to have patience, wait for God, don't move around trying to catch Him, he'll come for us, we just wait and pray to him.
Anyways, here's the song hope it means as much to you as it does to me!
God protect me from myself I search for life finding death God heal me My broken heart it longs for You I'm waiting, I'm waiting To hear You call my name I'm waiting, I'm waiting For You Lord And I'm ready, for you to draw me near It's always been this way with you But that's what makes you dear I'm waiting, I'm waiting To hear You call my name I'm waiting, I'm waiting For You Lord Oh Lord you know my heart I'm waiting, I'm waiting To hear You call my name I'm waiting, I'm waiting For You Lord I'm waiting, I'm waiting To hear you call my name Fixated, I'm waiting For You Lord

"Free"

Ok well Andy Tilly used this in one of his messages at camp and I'm going to use it because I thought it was really good.

He started out saying that his Grandpa had given him some advice saying, "Everything given to you for free is worthless."

So that makes sense I guess----NOT!

That's not true at all, because guess what? The most valuable thing in your life was given to you for free. Yup you guessed it, the gift was:

Life.

God gave you a free life, free!

So if it's free then why are you using it for yourself?

pass it on! give your life to someone! and not just one someone, be a servant to everyone!

Jesus gave you something, so use it! and not for yourself.

Because if I can tell you something right now that not what Jesus gave it to you for.

So what will you do? Will you use it for yourself? Or will you use it to be a servant to everyone around you?

Life is Beautiful

You can’t quit until you try You can’t live until you die You can’t learn to tell the truth Until you learn to lie You can’t breathe until you choke You gotta laugh when you’re the joke There’s nothing like a funeral to make you feel alive Just open your eyes Just open your eyes And see that life is beautiful. Will you swear on your life, That no one will cry at my funeral? I know some things that you don’t I’ve done things that you won’t There’s nothing like a trail of blood to find your way back home I was waiting for my hearse What came next was so much worse It took a funeral to make me feel alive Just open your eyes Just open your eyes And see that life is beautiful. Will you swear on your life, That no one will cry at my funeral? Just open your eyes Just open your eyes And see that life is beautiful. Will you swear on your life, That no one will cry at my funeral? Just open your eyes Just open your eyes And see that life is beautiful. Will you swear on your life, That no one will cry at my funeral? Just open your eyes Just open your eyes And see that life is beautiful. Will you swear on your life, That no one will cry at my funeral?
I absolutely LOVE this song!
The lyrics just mean a lot to me.
So I thought I would share it.
What it's saying is, Just open your eyes and see that life is beautiful.
Even though things get tough.
Life is Beautiful.

Suns and Moons

On Earth there are two different groups of people: Leaders and Followers. The Sun and Moon is a good analogy of this.

We all know that the Sun shines and gives us all the light it has, And the Moon reflects off the Sun's light. So in order for the Moon to have light, the Sun must shine as bright as possible.

Another thought, if you were to look at our solar system at a distance you would see all the planets revolving around the Sun and looking up at it. So if you're a Sun, or a Leader then you must think about your actions before you make them, because your subordinates, or those younger who look up to you are reflecting what you do, and there is bound to be one watching.

So the question I'm getting to is which one are you? are you a Sun or a Moon? are you a Leader or a follower?

600 vs. 1

Ok well this is an example that my sister Anna used in her message on Wednesday night. So I'm going to steal it.

So is this guy in the Bible got one whole verse to tell one of the biggest truths of the Bible.

After Ehud came Shamgar son of Anath, who struck down six hundred Philistines with an oxgoad. He too saved Israel. Judges 3:30-31

Ok so now you saying, "Huh?" Let me explain

This guy Shamgar killed six hundred Philistine soldiers with and oxgoad.

Well now your saying, "Well what in the world is an oxgoad?" Let me explain that as well.

An oxgoad is a wooden stick about 8 feet long with a metal end used to herd oxen.

Well how in the world did he do that?

I've got one name, two words, and a exclamation point for you: He had God!

What is the moral of the story?

Nothing is impossible with God.

And yeah, I know you all hear that a lot, but really think about that. Absolutely nothing!

That's crazy to think about. That's the power in all creation.

And if you have God, then you have that power!

And if that's given to us, why not use it?

So my question is to you, are you using it?

And if not, why aren't you?

Growing Closer

Several times this week I have heard people say that they want a closer relationship with God.

And after some studying and having conversations with different people of greater knowledge of it all than myself, I came up with this:

When we start a relationship with God, God is stationary, meaning He doesn't move. Which also means that it is up to us to make it grow or lessen.

A common phrase that my Youth Pastor Ketric uses is that praying is talking to God just like you talk to your best friend. So isn't the way that we get to know our friends is talking to them and spending time with them?

Also, if God gave us a book to get to know him better, shouldn't we use that as well?
Because the way I see it is that The Bible is our instruction manual to our relationship with God. And with eternity at stake here, then we might want to look into that.

Prayer

Today I was working, and just bored out of my mind, because I guess I'm just one of those people who, if its possible, has to be doing more than one thing at once.

So I figured, "Well while I'm here, I might as well pray."

As I was praying asking God for the day to be good and every thing, a question hit me, I had no idea where it came from, but the question was:

What does Prayer mean to you?

I thought about it for the whole day, searching for an honest answer.

But what I found wasn't what I was looking for, I found what prayer is, I found why we pray, and I know what to pray.

But I never found what it means

Anybody have any answers?

Its All Because of Jesus I'm Alive

It's all because of Jesus I'm alive It's all because the blood of Jesus Christ that covers me and raised this dead man's life it's all because of Jesus I'm alive.

I just have to say that I absolutely LOVE that song!

Read it over again and really let it sink in.

Its basically saying that the only reason we're alive today is that Jesus died for us, think about that for a second, I know that's probably something you just hear and you say, "Oh yeah Jesus died for my sins." and just give the "churchy" saying, but really think about how much of a sacrifice that is, think of how much love that would take to lay down your perfect life for a bunch of evil sinners.

Which makes me think of another topic.

I'm probably the only one, but I think about this ALL the time.

What if God didn't make us? Think about how weird it would be if nothing had happened and the Earth was just empty, no one would be here, humans wouldn't exist at all, and everything would just be empty and black. How weird is that? But how cool is it that God made humans when he didn't even have to? He could have just completely forgot about us and nobody would ever have been here.

I don't know that's just crazy.

And something to think about.

Ephesians 6:11

Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.

This is definately my favorite verse in the Bible not only because it actually makes sense to me, but it shows me that God has a special armor for us that can sheild us from the strongest attacks, both physical and spiritual.

What we don't know is that there is a spiritual war going on for each and every one of us.

I know you've heard this a million times but the Devil is here to kill, steal, and destroy and thats soooo true.

But guess what? There is an even stronger guy out there and his name is Jesus! And he wants to take you in, protect you, and love you.

Even though most of you know that, I just know that it helps me to have a reminder of it every once and a while.

But now I want to know about you, what is your favorite verse in the Bible?

Pearl Master's Custom Maple-Sunrise Fade

So in my "About Me" section I said that you'll just have to learn more as I write.
I know most of you know that I play drums, but most of you have never really seen them. So i took some pics so you could see them.

This is Your Life

This is your life, are you who you want to be. This
is your life, are you who you want to be. This is your life, is it everything you dreamed that it would be, When the world was younger and you had everything to lose.
Today I was listening to my I-pod and that song started to play, and as i let the lyrics sink in i started to ask myself:
This is my life, am I who i want to be?
A challenging question no doubt, but think about it.
This is your life, are you who you want to be?

Introductory

Yes, its true, Jacob started a blog... haha.

So yeah its pretty much going to be what the title says: Randomness.
